Let's rethink this term that people use called "I grew out of it", because when you really think about it, it's really a stupid statement.

Your taste in anything does not define your maturity. It's your behavior. You cannot grow out of a show or a game the same way you can grow out of clothes.

For example, MLP is an extremely childish show. While it has immature fans, there are some mature fans out there, myself included.

Must Destroy is a series by a YouTuber called "iMustDestroyAll". It's about a demon who talks about how he'll destroy a YouTuber, usually because their content is supposedly "shitty". That's very childish, yet MustDestroyAll acts very mature, and has a pretty mature fanbase too.

Borderlands and it's sequel are both pretty childish when you really take a look at it's content. Sure, it's not a game for kids, but it's still a very childish game. I mean c'mon, there's a character called "Face Mc'Shootit", who asks you to show him in the face! And we have an insane player character as DLC who has shouted "I'M THE CONDUCTOR OF THE POOP TRAIN!". Tell me that's not childish with a straight face!

It's much better to say that you "lost interest in it" because that's the actual truth. Saying that you left something because it's "childish" as if dropping it makes you more mature actually makes you seem less mature.

Huh. Until I saw this, I had no idea you were an MLP fan.

And anyway, I consider it not childish to watch cartoons, anime, or the like. Because other than the fact the idea of a show mostly comes from an adult, it helps people remember their childhood now and then. Most people would use a wet blanket excuse of calling almost everything animated "for kids."
